*TAEKWONDO FEDERATION OF INDIA  - HISTORY :

In the year 1975, Taekwondo was introduced in India by Grand Master Jimmy R.

Jagtiani. On 2nd Aug. 1976, the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) was formed

and established as a National Body of Taekwondo in India. On 2nd August 1977,

*(The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) accorded affiliation to the
Taekwondo Federation of India in 1978, the Asian Taekwondo Union 
(ATU) in 1982, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in 1985 and the
South Asian Taekwondo Federation (SATF) in 1994 respectively. The
Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India also granted
recognition to the Taekwondo Federation of India as an apex judicial and
autonomous National Body of Taekwondo in India in 1988. The art of
Taekwondo was introduced for the first time in the National Games 
held at New Delhi in the year 1985)

*         Punjab Taekwondo Players participated in the 8th Open International Taekwondo

          Championship in India Team held at Multipurpose Hall Parade Ground Dehradun

          from Jan 14-16, 2026 and won 23 Medals. Players participated in Kyorugi, Poomsae

          & Speed Kicking  competitions & won 6 Gold Medals (Sania, Gurtej Gir, Palak, pankul

          Bansal, Kirat Singh Dhadda & Harsh. 7 players won Silver Medal (Ankush, Namiya,

         Nitisha, Palak, Parampreet Singh, Prabhat Kumar  & Sukhjinder Singh

         7 Players won Bronze medals in different categories ( Pankul Bansal, Kirat Singh 

         Dhadda, Sukhjinder Singh, Sania, Prabhat Kumar, Nitisha & Namiya

*        Punjab Taekwondo Team participated in the 39th open National Taekwondo 

         Championship held at K. D. Singh Babu Stadium Lucknow from Nov. 14-16, 2025

         Punjab Taekwondo players participated in Kyorugi, poomsae and Speed Kicking

         Competitions & won 19 medals. Punjab Taekwondo Team won overall 2nd position

         in Poomsae Competition 

Taekwondo hall of Fame Awards 2025 were organised at Halwasiya Court Lucknow

on Aug 2, 2025 on the occasion of 46th Foundation  Anniversary of Taekwondo  

Federation of India. Two Players from Punjab were honoured during this occasion

        

*       Selected Punjab Taekwondo Team participated in the 42nd National Taekwondo

        Championship held at Vandana Kataria Sports Stadium Roshnabad Haridwar from

        June 27-29, 2025. Punjab Taekwondo Players won total 7 Gold Medals, 7 Silver 

        & 6 Bronze Medals in Kyorgi & Poomsae Competitions. Kyorugi Gold Medalist are:

        Kanvi Aggarwal, Yajat Jindal, Kaustubh Jindal, Priyanshi rani & Tushar. Silver Medals

        in kyorugi are: Gurvir Kaur, Ankush,Gargi, Natali Jiandal,Latika Goyal, Parth Goyal

        & Vakul Goyal. Bronze Medal Winners are: Pankul bansal, Tanvi, Eknoor Singh, Palak

        Mandal, Samarth Sood & Hitika. Poomsae Gold Medal Winner are Gurvir Kaur &

        Ankush

 

*      Organised 28th Punjab State Cum Inter-District Sparring (Kyorugi) & Poomsae

       Taekwondo Championship at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic industrial Phase 1 

       Mohali on Feb 16, 2025 Giving this information Er. Satpal Singh Rehal                     informed that The players from different Districts participated in the events.

       Mansa District Team stood first by winning 22 Gold Medals, 10 Silver &

       one Bronze Medal. District Mohali team stood 2nd by winning 16 Gold,

       10 Silver and 7 Bronze Medals. Dist. Ferozepur got 3rd position by wining 

       14 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 bronze medal. the events were inaugurated jointly

        by S. Kanwaljit Singh Walia (Sr. Vice President Punjab Taekwondo

        Association), Sh. Subodh Sharma (co-ordinator Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic)          & Music Director n Singer Sh. Madan Shonky. Prizes were distributed by

        Col. S. P.S. Randhawa  (President, Punjab Taekwondo Association), Sh                    Jorawar Singh (Director, Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic)

*     Selected Punjab Taekwondo Team participated in the 41st National Taekwondo

         Championship held at KD Singh Babu Stadium Lucknow from june 28-30, 2024

         Punjab Taekwondo Team grabbed  3rd position in the overall Championship.

         about 700 Players participated in the competitions.The events were inaugurated by

         Sh. Swatanter Dev Singh (Jalshakti Cabinet Minister UP.  Er. Satpal

         Singh Rehal General Secretary Punjab Taekwondo Association informed that

         Punjab players 9 Gold, 7 Silver and 11 Bronze medals & stood 3rd in the overall

         competitions

*        Taekwondo Hall of Fame India  Awards - 2024 were organised at by Taekwondo

          Federation of India at KD singh Babu Stadium Lucknow  during 41st National 

         Taekwondo Championship on June 30, 2024. Gurpreet Sing from Punjab was 

          honoured for life time achievements

 
         

          

*        Organised 27th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship cum Selection for the 

          41^st National Taekwondo Championship at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, industrial 

          Area, Phase 1 Mohali on May 05, 2024. Giving this information Gm. Er, Satpal Singh 

          Rehal (General Secretary-Technical Director Punjab taekwondo Association) said

          that The events were inaugurated by Renowned Punjabi Singer & Musician Sh. Madan
         Shonki & Sh Subodh Sharma. District SAS Nagar Mohali Taekwondo Team stood first 

         by winning 17 Gold, 14 Silver & 11 Bronze Medals, Dist. Amritsar Team got 2^nd position

         by winning 10 Gold, 9 Silver & 6 Bronze Medals and District Sangrur team grabbed the

         3^rd position by wining 10 Gold, 2 Silver & 1 Bronze medal. Prizes were distributed by

         Sh. Jorawer Singh Director, Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Sh. Madan Shonky, 

         S. KanwaljitSingh Walia (Senior Vice President Punjab Taekwondo  Association).

         The selected players of this championship are eligible to participate in the 41^st National

         Taekwondo Championship scheduled to be held at K.D. Singh Babu Stadium, 

         Lucknow from june 28-30, 2024.

 

   

       

*      Organised 26th District Taekwondo Championship at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic
       industrial Phase 1 Mohali on November 05, 2023. The events were inaugurated by
       Music Director & Singer Sh. Madan Shonki, S Kanwaljit Singh Walia (Sr. Vice
       President Punjab Taekwondo Association) & Sh Subodh Sharma (Guru Nanak VBT
       Polytechnic) & Prizes were distributed by Chief Guest S. Sukhdev Singh Brar (SSP
       Retd. & Patron PTA), Sh Jorawar Singh (Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic) & others
       Players of Mata Sahib kaur Public School, Swara got 1^st position by winning 13 gold,
       8 Silver & 2 Bronze Medals, zirakpur team stood second by winning 11 Gold, 9      
       Silver & 4 Bronze Medals and Mohali taekwondo Academy team grabbed the 3^rd

       position by winning 10 gold, 3 Silver & 2 Bronze Medals

*      Organised 26th Punjab State Tkd C’ship on May 14, 2023 & Trials to select  
        Punjab State Taekwondo teams for participation in the 40^th National
        Taekwondo Championship Lucknow June 2023.. Mohali District Team stood
        first in the overall competition, Sangrur team stood second & Amritsar Team

*      Organised 25th Punjab State cum 17th Intercity Inter District Taekwondo

       Championship at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic Phase-1 Mohali on Feb 19, 

       2023. District Mohali Team grabbed the Fist position by winnin 36 Gold     

       11 Silver & 7 Bronze Medals. Ferozepur team stood second by winning 

       8 gold, 1 sliver & 2 Bronze Medals. Fazilka Team got third position by 

       winning 5 gold, 4 Silver & 1 Bronze Medal. Inauguration was done by 

       S. Kanwaljit Singh Walia (Sr. Vice President PTA) along with Renowned 

       Punjabi Singer & Music Director Madan Shonki. Prizes were distributed by 

       Smt Prabhjot Kaur, Chairperson Zila Yojna Board SAS Nagar Mohali. Other 

       Dignitaries present were Lt. Col. CS Bawa (Patron Punjab Taekwondo

       Association), S. Harjit Singh (Director Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic),

*  Organised 24th District Mohali Taekwondo Championship at Guru 

       Nanak VBT Polytechnic Phase-1 Mohali. Mata Sahib Kaur Public

*     1^st online International Taekwondo Championship for Poomsae and self-defence
       was organised by Taekwondo Federation of India on Aug 14-16, 2021 at Mumbai
       n  Lucknow during this Corona Pandemic Time. Punjab Taekwondo players
       Participated n the above C’ship. The Following Punjab Players Won Medals in the
       Poomsae & Self-defence Competitions: Mehta Singh Dhillon Gold Medal in
       Poomsae, Aanya Sagar Silver in Poomsae Ranjeet Bonze in Poomsae, Vinod
       kumar Silver in Self-deence with Weapons, Krish Mehra Bronze Medal in Self-

       defence, Lokesh Mehra got Bronze Medal in Self-defence with Weapons

*     2^nd All India online Taekwondo Championship was organised by Taekwondo
       Federation of India on Dec 18-20, 2020 at Lucknow During Corona Pandemic
       Time  Punjab Taekwondo players Participated in the abover C’ship & won
       Medals . Following Players won Gold Medals in Poomsae & Self-defence
       Competitions Satpal Singh Rehal, Ranjit. Players who won Silver Medals are:

      of India on Aug 27^th to 31^st, 2020. Following Punjab Players won Medals in
      Poomsae & Self-defence Competitions. Gold Medal winners are: Aditya Singh
      Rana, Krish  Mehra, Aman Limbu, Lokesh Mehra, Sooryansh singh Rana,
      Ekamveer Singh, jagjit Singh, Harshveer Singh. Silver Medal Winners are:
      Abhijeet Singh, ,Anmolodeep Singh, Talwinder Singh. Bronze Medal
      Winners are: Jagjit Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Swarnjit sIngh, Harmanjeet Singh,

           Players won 16 Gold, 10 Silver & 13 Bronze Medals

*      Taekwondo Hall of Fame India Awards -2019 was organised by Taekwondo
        Federation of India at K.D. Singh Babu Stadium Lucknow on june 16, 2019
        during 39^th official National Taekwondo Championship. 54 Taekwondo
        Personalities from all over India were honoured in this Award Ceremony.

        3 Tkd Promoters from Punjab State: Ravish Vishwakarma, Sudhir kumar &
        Sukh Amritpal Singh were also honoured during this Ceremony

*      Organised 14^th Inter Dist. & Tricity Taekwondo Championship at Guru
       Nanak VBT Polytechnic on Feb 17, 2019. By wining 23 Gold 9 Silver
       & 5 Bronze medals Mohali team stood first and the 2^nd position was
       maintained by Amritsar team by winning 10 Gold 1 Silver & 1 Bronze
       medal. Patiala Tkd Team grabbed the 3^rd Position by winning 6 Gold 5

       3^rd by winning 7 Gold & 2 Bronze medals. Similarly Sentinel School

        Tiwari, Gagan Deep Singh & Yashraj Kaur), 11 Silver Medals (Isha,

        Mumtaj Nigah, Gurpret Kaur, Lachhmeet kaur, piush Mishra, Nitish

        Kumar Jha, Ravish Vishwakrama, Nazmina), 11 Bronze Medals

        (Mayank, palwinder Singh, Varinder Singh, Jaswinder Kaur, Mansi,

        Sawran Singh, Sukjhraj Singh,  Gurpreet singh, Mani Mahesh Bansal

        & Harsimran jeet Singh in Muye. The selected players would  participate

        in the forthcoming International Taekwondo Championship to be held

        at Mumbai

       Taekwondo Players won maximum medals 6 Gold, $ Silver & 1 Bronze

        of India TFI. The Event was inaugurated by Sh, Chetan Chauhan Sports

        Training Camp at Fuzion, Mohali on the occasion of International

        Women’s day, March 8, 2017.  Master Er. Satpal Singh Rehal

        from Taekwondo academy of Punjab along with his associate

        students provided fitness & self-dense training to the girls &

        women of the Group. Most applicable mix Martial art techniques

        were demonstrated and taught to the female participants of the group

 

*      Arranged Women Self-defence awareness Workshop Session & Training 
        Camp at Tata Business, Mohali before the eve of Women’s Day on March 
        06, 2017. Master Er. Satapal Singh Rehal from Punjab Taekwondo
        Association along with his associate Students provided Training to
        the girls & working women of the company/group, and demonstrated 
        applicable mix Martial Arts techniques & given fitness /self-defence Tips

       of Chandigarh, Mohali on the occasion of Republic day, Jan. 26,

       2017 with the help of Ngo Women Power in the heavy rains.

       Taekwondo Championship held at Maharana Partap Sports

       College, Dehradun from Nov 4-6, 2016. The events inaugurated

       by the UK Chief Minister Sh. Harish Rawat and on the final day

       the prizes were given away by the UK Governor Sh. K.K Paul.

       Grandmaster Sh jimmy R. Jagtiani welcomed the Prestigious

       Guest & Participants. Punjab taekwondo Team won 32 Medals 
       in the overall events. Punjab Players won 5 Gold (Aviraj Singh, 
       Harish, Prabhjot Kaur, Pranati Verma, Navjot kaur), 11 Silver

     Singh Sharma. During Prize distribution ceremony Sh Purshotam

     Lal Khlifa said that Games keeps one away from the abuse of

     Drugs & other ill habits.

      Area, Phase-1, Mohali on May 15, 2011 to Select the 

      Punjab State Taekwondo Teams for paraticipation in the

      31st National Taekwondo Championship to be held at

      Ahamednagar, Maharashtra from June 27-29, 2011

*     Organised  6^th Inter-District,  Inter-School Sparring and

      Muye Taekwondo Championship at Guru Nanak VBT

      Polytechnic, C-4, Industrial Area, Phase-1SAS Nagar Mohali,

      on 20^th February, 2011. Players from Rayat International

      School, Rail Majra, won 1^st Position, 2^nd position was

      maintained by St. Ezra International School, Kharar and

      Sentinel Public School Sohana, got third Position

*     Organised 14th District SAS Nagar, Mohali (Sparring

      & Muye) 'B S Walia memorial' Taekwondo Championship

      at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, C-4, Ind. Area, Phase-1,

      Mohali on Dec. 05, 2010, Tributes were paid to the

      Departed soul of Sh B. S. Walia who was a Patron in

      Punjab Taekwondo Association and helped to promote

      Taekwondo in the Punjab State. By winning maximum

      numbers of medals in Sparring players from St. Ezra

      International School, Kharar, got 1st position, Golden

      Bells Public School, Sector 77, Sohana, Mohali stood

      second , and third position was maintained by St.

      Xaviers school, Mohali

*     Punjab Taekwondo Team Participated in the 30th

      National Taekwondo Championship, held at ICF

      Higher Secondary School, Chennai from Sept. 30

      to October 2, 2010. Punjab Players won 2 Gold,

      Mohali on September 3, 2010 Players from 12 Schools

      of the district Participated with enthusiasm

*    3rd International Taekwondo Championship was

      organised at Scientific Convention Center, Lucknow

      from 11^th June  to 13th June 2010, Snehdeep Singh,

      Akhil Jha, Prabhjot Singh, Vishwa Prem & Uttam Singh

      from Punjab participated in the Indian Team. Akhil Jha

      won Silver Medal, Uttam Singh & Vishwa Prem got

      Bronze Medals

*     Organised 5th Inter School Taekwondo championship at

      Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic on Feb. 14, 2010

*    Organised 13th District Taekwondo Championship at Guru

      Nanak VBT Polytechnic, C-4, Ind. Area Phase-1, Mohali on

      14th of Feb. 2010

*    Punjab Taekwondo team participated in 29th National

      Taekwondo at 35th Battalion, PAC Mahanagar, Lucknow

      from 29th to 31st January, 2010

*    Organised 11th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship

      (Sparring & Muye) at Lawerance Public school, Mohali

      from 29th to 30th August  2009. By winning maximum

      number of medals Mohali Taekwondo team stood first,

      Amritsar Team got second position and Ludhiana Team

      bagged 3^rd position in the overall Championship

*     Punjab taekwondo Players won 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 2 Bronze

      Medals  in the 26^th National Taekwondo Championship held at

      Netaji Subhash Stadium, Sports Authority of India complex,

      Salt Lake, Kolkata in January 2008.

*     Punjab State Taekwondo Team captured the top Position in the

      23^rd junior & Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship

      Held at Juhari Devi Girls Inter College, Kanpur. Punjab

      emerged at the top of the Table by winning 10  Gold Medals

      (Vishal Arya, Sukhwinder Singh, Rajnish Rana, Pawan Sagar,

      Jatin Chaudhary, Rishav Sharma, Suprya Jamwal, Manu wala,

      Mamta Rani & Amandeep Kaur. 5 Silver Medals (Vipan, Shubhan

      Sharma, Navdeep Singh, Shagun & Karitika. 4 Bronze Medals

      (Ankush Bhagat, Mandeep Singh Sunil Sharma & Navroop Kaur.

      Haryana stood second in the overall Championship. Jalandhar

      Tkd Players played a major role in the success of Punjab Team.

      All the players of Punjab team showed good discipline & participated

      With great amount of zeal.

*     Organised 7^th Punjab state Taekwondo Championship at

      Shiwalik Public School, phase-6, & Guru Nanak VBT

      Polytechnic Mohali near Chandigarh on May 1-2, 2004. The

      Competitions were inaugurated jointly by Sh. D.S. Bedi & Sh.

      Harinderpal Singh Billa (Ex-President MC Mohali) & the

      Prizes were distributed by Sh. Gurmeet singh ( President

      Mohali Industries Association). District Ropar Tkd Team

      Bagged the top slot while Jalandhar team bagged the second

     & Bathinda had to settle with third spot. Sukhwinder Singh of

      Jallandhar & Shakti Sen of Mohali Chandigarh were declared

      The Best Players of the tournament.     

*     Organised 5^th Punjab State Colour Belt Senior, Junior & Sub –

      Junior Taekwondo Championship at indoor Stadium, Govt.

      College Muktsar on July 13-14, 2002. Jalandhar Tkd Team

      Won first position. Muktsar Taekwondo players stood Second

      & District Ropar team got third position in the overall competitions.

      Vishal Arya of Jalandhar District was declared best player of

      the Event. All the Gold medalists of this C’ship would take part

      in the 20^th Sub-junior & Junior National Taekwondo Champioship

      to be held at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium Delhi from July 26-

      28, 2002.

*     Organised 4^th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship at

      Govt. College Ropar on Jan 6-7, 2001.

 

*     Punjab Taekwondo Teams Participated in the 19^th Male and

      17^th Female National Taekwondo Championship held at L.B.

      Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad AP) from May 26-28, 2000

*     Selected Punjab State Taekwondo team Participated in the

      18^th National Taekwondo Championship held at Indoo Stadium,

      Patel Maidan, Ajmer, Rajasthan from Dec. 17-19, 1999

*     Organised 3^rd Punjab State Colour Belt Senior, Junior &

      Sub-junior Taekwondo Championship at multipurpose hall

      Govt. College Ropar on Dec. 4 - 5, 1999. District Ropar

      (Rupnagar) Tkd players bagged 1^st position while Jalandhar

      team stood second. The winners of this championship would

      take part in the National Taekwondo Championship scheduled

      to be held at Ajmer from 17^th  to 19 Dec. 1999. Taekwondo

      teams from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala,

      Patiala, Ropar, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib,

      Muktsar, Bathinda, Sangrur, Gurdaspur & Ferozepur etc.

      participated in These competitions.

*     Organised 2^nd Punjab State Taekwondo Championship at

      Shivalik Public School & Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic

      Mohali on Aug 8-9, 1998. The Competitions were inaugurated

      by Mahant Gurdial Singh Chairman Bakfinco. Prizes were

      distributed by MP Smt. Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal. Jalandhar

      Tkd Team Stood First by winning 21 Gold, 11 Silver & 6

      Bronze medals & Coach Baljit Singh was honored with First

      Team Trophy . Kulwinder Kumar of Jalandhar was declared

      best Player of the Competitions. The selected players would

      take part in the 18^th National Senior & Sub-Junior Taekwondo

      Championship being held at  K.D. Singh Babu  Stadium

      Lucknow On Aug 16-18, 1998 & 18^th Junior Male Female

      Taekwondo Championship being held at Kurukshetra

      University From Aug. 24-26, 1998.

 

*     Punjab Taekwondo Team Participated in the 17^th National

      Taekwondo Championship held at Command Gymnasium,

      Kohli Stadium, Navi Nagar from Nov. 4-6, 1997

*     We Organised 1^st Punjab State Taekwondo Championship

      at Govt. College Ropar on Sept. 27-28, 1997. Tkd teams

      from District Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ropar

      (Rupnagar), Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana,

      Fatehgarh Sahib, Amritsar, Sangrur, Patiala & Ferozepur etc.

      participated in the competitions. Distt. Jalandhar Taekwondo

      players stood first by bagging 9 Gold, 14 Silver & 5 bronze

      medals out of total 120 medals. Dist. Hoshiarpur Tkd players

      stood second by winning 13 Gold, 3 silver & 4 bronze medals.

      Host Ropar team got third position by winning 5 Gold, 5 Silver

      & 6 Bronze medals. Overall Trophy was won by Dist.

      Jullundhar Team. Krishan Singh from Mohali Chandigarh

      Was declared Best Player in Males & Upma Kala from

      Jallandhar in females. The Competitions were organized
